General Meeting Minutes
January 22, 2012
On January 22nd the regular Juniors Association meeting was held at Garden City Park Fire Department.
The meeting was opened by Sergeant at Arms Andrew Mach by a Salute to the Flag at 10:02am
The minutes from the previous meeting were read for information only. A motion was made and carried that they be accepted.
Ex-Chief Jim Roth from Garden City Park welcomed us to his firehouse.
There was a note made that there were many guests in attendance.

Co-Chairman Mike Tedeschi held the swearing in of the officers. They were as follows:
President- Jonathan Chambers
1st Vice President- Dale Warwick
2nd Vice President- Joseph Velotti
Secretary- Amanda Temares
Treasurer- Brent Martinez
Sergeant at Arms- Andrew Mach
The first speaker was Beth Bennett from FASNY stated that FASNY see’s all of the hard work that we are doing and that there is not another Association like ours in NYS. She also stated that FASNY is becoming more youth friendly.
The website is FASNY.com/youth they also have a Facebook page. She told us about the awards and services that FASNY offers.
Rachael Buczynski from NVAC spoke next about the National Junior Firefighters Program. They also have a juniors website: NVFC.org/juniors. She said she contacted Chairman Jerry Presta about attending one of our meetings, she has been following our meeting, activities and trainings through him and is interested in introducing our program nationally.
Next on the agenda was the report of the committees
Activities- We are looking into a winter event for this year, we are looking into a day of bowling or Laser Tag. Details to follow via E-Mail’s, Facebook and the website.
Dinner- Our Annual Installation Dinner is on January 28th 2012 @ 6:30pm at Garden City Park. If your department has not responded then please do so. We also have raffles still for sale and please turn all money and stubs on or before the dinner. Reminder the raffle prize is an I-Pad 2 and case.
Unfinished business was next on the agenda. The CFR course test was on January 19th. Chairman Jerry Presta stated that all of the students did well in class and he wishes them luck.
Please read your e-mails and answer accordingly. We are looking for committee members if you want to become more active in the NCJFA and possibly becoming an officer this is a great way to get your foot in the door.
The reports of the advisors were next Chairman Jerry Presta talked about the Scholarship Program. There will be (2) $500 scholarships. We have a table again at the Buff Show.
The advisors from Mineola and Wantagh announced that they are having a pasta dinner. On March 4th is Wantagh’s and March 11th is Mineola’s.
Paul Hoyle from West Hampton Beach fire department juniors said that they are very impressed with what we have and his juniors created JAB (Juniors Against Bullying) if you have any questions about the program please contact him.
Good and Welfare was next on the agenda, it was stated that Otto Kohlmier and Joe McEvoy are recovering from surgery and doing well.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:46am
